About This Athlete
I started CrossFitting 2 years ago with my co-workers and friends Jimmy Moore and James Flores . I joined CrossFit Rancho Cucamonga in January of 2010 and began training for the games. I have had so much support from owners Dan and Shelly Mielke in getting to the games. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful and understanding wife, Ami, who has let me put in countless hours of training, and has spent so much time supporting me in this journey. I also thank God for his countless blessings, and for giving me these abilities to use for His glory.
Ezra 8:22 The hand of our God is upon...
My name is Dan Mielke and I own and operate CF Rancho Cucamonga. Jon notified me today that there were some ridiculous posts being posted on his profile and asked if I'd say something. I hate to even acknowledge the failed attempts by a few "immature" CrossFitters that are trying to take claim of Jon's great performance in the Regionals, but since I was asked to set the record straight...I will. Jon has been with us since Jan of 2010. He was first a member, then a coach. Jon stepped away from CrossFit and CFRC for a few months before the opens (for reasons that will stay between him and I). While away from the gym, he worked out with EM (which apparently is Axiom now) for about a month and a half (which he had our blessings to do so). A few weeks before the opens, Jon came back to "his" gym, and has been training here ever since.
It saddens me to see post like these below, which is attempting to take credit for Jon's hard work. Competitions must really bring the worst out in some people. A month and a half of working out at Axiom (or EM), gives no person or gym the right to say they've helped create what Jon has accomplished, just as 2 years with us doesn't give me the right to claim it as well. Shame on all of you for even bringing up such a childish posting. We at CFRC are an open source gym, all of our workouts (or programming if you will) is on Beyond the Whiteboard, for all to see. We even post our workouts and times on our blog. I'm not sure if Axiom is aware of your guy's post, but I'm sure they wouldn't like that tied to their gym. And if Axiom (EM) did indeed make a positive impact on Jon's training, then they should be happy for him, and not looking for the notoriety (which I don't think they would, since I've met Vaughn quite a few times and he doesn't seem like that type of guy).
CrossFit's not about notoriety, it's about helping people succeed past their own expectations and not wanting anything in return. (except for their dues):):)
Go get-em' Jon...you've had tons of influences in your life that led you to where you are today, and we at CrossFit Rancho Cucamonga just love to see that you are finally seeing the "fruits of your labor".
-much love and respect,

Posted at 1:10 AM PDT on May 24, 2011I was at EM for a month and a half before the open started, then I decided to go back to rancho. I didnt feel like there was the intensity that I needed to do well. No hard feelings at all, just not the right place for me.
Posted at 3:18 PM PDT on April 23, 2011Didn't you get trained at EM the months leading up to the competition? Can't decide which gym you like?
