About This Athlete

Up for a good challenge! With my husband away in Baghdad Iraq, crossfit has helped fill that void. When I am concentrating on lifts, pull ups and overhead squats the distance between us somehow seems shorter. We constantly compare rowing times and push up reps, all done of course with competative humor. We meet around every 4 months, some times he comes home to be with me, the kids and grand kids, other times we meet in far away lands. Either way it's doing squats and lunges on foreign beaches, or hitting the box at home.

Hi Kathy, if you are on Facebook, please friend me (there are only a few Holly Arrows, only one in Oregon). Too many Kathy Millers to find you. I'm coming to the Games and would love to meet you face to face! H.

BTW, are you coming to Regionals? I saw that your Affiliate qualified right ahead of mine [Eugene Crossfit]. A bunch of us (including me) are going up to cheer on and support our teammates. If you will be there too I would love to meet you.

Good luck with the pullups! You put in a really solid performance across the board (top 20 in all but the pullup WOD and those will come with practice!) My WOD 11.6 total of 10 pullups involved lots of frustrating struggling and failed attempts at the bar (I had only gotten my first Rx pullup two weeks prior), but last week I managed 120 pullups across a bunch of workouts. Once the kip kicks in your progress will be quick! How long have you been crossfitting? Today is my 6 month anniversary :)

Holly, thank you! I too have been watching your progress and was hoping you would make it to the games. I have not been doing crossfit for long, but have enjoyed the challenges that have come in the learning of it all! I will be working hard on pull ups these next few months, and I still can not believe how many of the women are able to do them! Thanks again for your support.

Congrats on making the top 20,Kathy! I've been following your progress as I'm also in the Northwest region (Oregon). I fell a little short this year but had a great experience in the Open (lots of firsts and PRs) and will be rooting for you in the Games in July.
